Wordpress describes itself as:

A semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability.

Short, sweet and reasonably accurate in my opinion!

I’ve already encouraged you to use Wordpress, but thought I ought to provide some resources here to get you started.

Getting Started

In this post, I’ve already shown you tutorials on how to get Wordpress installed (with Fantastico or without Fantastico), change your Wordpress theme, create a few categories, and install plugins.

That’s a start and you should be able to make your first post from there!
