It’s a moral thing I guess, but to some it could be misconstrued as fraud or deception, I’m talking about Faking your FeedCount, I’ve got to be honest, I rarely check my feedCount for any of my blogs, so I wouldn’t even know if they were doing good or bad!
I can see the logic some people might apply in faking the FeedCount on a new blog, but really is it worth it? You may just end up losing credibility, particularly if you later correct it because either a) somebody spots it, or b) an advertiser wants proof of your subscribers before they pay you!
We’ve talked about installing FeedBurner before, but I simply can’t see the point in faking subscriber counts, simply write good, compelling and unique content and you’ll find that number goes up anyway!!

I prefer spending my time for legal promotions and trying to write content that’s worth reading. I blog not for monetize in nearest 6 months but to improve my blogging skills and communicate with my readers. I want to have actual stats… If I fake my feedcounter how do I see how many real people read me?
Oh I agree completely, I can see no point in faking it, but some people probably will as they seek to make their blog appear to be more popular and get more people “on the bandwagon” so to speak!
Frankly speaking, I thought of faking feed count and showing it in my blog. My blog has good ranking in Alexa. But I’ve not reached the mark of 100 in feedcount yet. I can see other blog and see that they rank low in alexa than me and have high no of feedcount and get jealous with them. I got many visitors from search engine rather than from social media website.
But today, I’ve changed my mind for forever. I won’t fake my loyal reader although they are just in 80.
I won’t fake at all……
I can see why people do it, I just don’t think it’s quite right if I’m honest.
Maybe we ought to have a badge “Honest Bloggers” ?
